It's a good day when....

My awesome daughter takes a 3 hour nap today, and then goes down to bed peacefully at 9 p.m. Today Nate and I got to enjoy our afternoon watching National Treasure 2 while Lyla slept, and then Lyla at an entire jar of bananas with her oatmeal---which is no small feat for my child. She typically hates fruit, but gobbled it all up today. And at dinner she even ate some baked beans and pieces of noodle from the pasta salad...she's getting so big!

Last night Nate and I went to the Blaze game, and we had a blast! Nate's parents watched Lyla for us, and we came home to a very happy girl who was bathed and wearing the CUTEST new pajamas! Thanks guys! It's so nice to know that we can leave her every once in awhile, especially since she's been pretty attached to my boobs for the last 9 months. As much as I am looking forward to weaning Lyla, I have loved that I chose to breastfeed exclusively. In any case, it was nice to get out with just the 2 of us...we haven't done that in MONTHS!

I am hoping the weather holds out in the morning because we are really excited to go to the zoo with the kids (Andy, Ashley and Dallin are coming!) Until then....goodnight!

Pictures from the week of death!

Even though my moo has been so sick over the last week and a half, she still manages to do the funniest things! She loves to pull the tray off our ottoman, take off all the remotes, and sit in it!

I was doing my hair yesterday morning, and I heard Lyla cry out from her room. When I looked in, I found this! I really don't know how she got in there, but she thought it was funny when I saw her!
And finally, here is a picture of Lyla sleeping during our experience with the flu. She was vomiting so much, but was so tired that we finally resorted to letting her sleep with a towel. How sweet, yet sad at the same time!!

Happy 9 Months, Moo

Dear Lyla,
I can't believe you are 9 months already! You have started doing so many amazing and funny things, and you make me laugh ALL the time! Thank you for being such a wonderful addition to my life, because you make everything worth while. Here are some of the things you do that I adore:

--your "crunch smile"
--you have started signing!! You can say "more," "milk," "eat," "all done," and you always try to sign along with your movie....so cute!
--you can stand at your toybox and get just about any toy you want
--you know how to push all the buttons on your play kitchen, even open and close the oven
--I love that you get excited to turn the page when I read you a story, and then laugh when you see the next page
--you snuggle your "night night" when you nurse

--you crawl to me and pull up on my legs
--you love it when I rock you to sleep
--you wave hello
--you always fall asleep to baby Mozart
--you just love to play
--you are happy 99% of the time--what a great way to live!
I can't wait to see what you learn to do in the coming months. I love you!
Love, mom

Surviving the flu!!

Well, I haven't had a chance to post since last Sunday....since one of my Mother's Day gifts ended up being a vomiting 9 month old. Sad! Anyway, I have lots and lots to say. Lyla has been so sick, but I think we are coming out of it now---and now I am sick, but surviving! I will post pictures and thoughts about my first OFFICIAL Mother's Day, the flu, and life. Lyla is 9 months now, and doing so many fun things! I finally have a hair appointment this afternoon, so I am SO EXCITED to relax!! Until later....

Salt Lake Bees!

Last night Andy scored us GREAT seats to the Salt Lake Bees game...and it was perfect weather for baseball. For those who don't know, we actually have a really good minor league baseball team, and they have the best record in the league right now. Anyway, we had a really great time, and Lyla was looking particularly stylish in her new hair bow!

Nate and Dallin being cute....

Also, I am totally amazed that Lyla is pulling up on everything, and she loves to stand! She claps her hands, says "mama" and "dada," and is figuring out how to work all of her toys. She even knows how to turn pages in a book! She's too sweet....

I really need to be better at updating my blog too. I find myself bugged that no one updates their blogs when I want them to, yet I don't update mine either! Lame!
